Caught in the Act

Fox news is again caught in an act of more than questionable integrity: Anchors discussing censoring Ron Paul supporters.

I know Ron Paul has gotten a lot more cred lately, and I think this kind of thing goes even further to show how awesome he is- he had all these supporters out there in the crowd, so many so, that Fox felt threatened by them. Dun dun dun duuuuunnnnnnn.

This is another reason why I do not watch the news, TV, and especially not Fox.

Alkaline and Acidic foods for your health

i am in the middle of a tricky and dangerous little experiment, because i currently lack healthcare, i’m going out into the realm of the unknown and seeing if i come back fully recuperated. a real blog about this to follow, once the experiment is all said and done. a hint- it involves some pain, and lots of water.

one important view on eating is alkalizing your body through switching up your food intake, as the human body is naturally alkaline. get back to that state by consuming fewer acidic foods. this site recommends a 70-80% alkaline vs 20-30% acidic food intake.

here is a short list of alkaline vs acidic (better one here):

alkaline
- most vegetables especially leafy and green ones, spinach, carrots fruits such as lemon, lime, and grapefruit, almond, sunflower, lentil, sprouted seeds, hummus, flax seed

acidic- almost all dairy products, meat, condiments, honey, pasta, coffee, soda, booze, fast foods, sweets, peanuts, any fruit not listed in alkalines, saturated and hydrogenated oils.

so basically it’s like common sense about eating healthy, but if you scrutinize this list, you may be surprised to see how few alkalizing foods you’re consuming. and the list that follows includes just a sampling of the problems an overly acidic diet can cause:

cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, heartburn, migraines, gastrointestinal and bowel system diseases, and more…
“Acidosis, or over-acidity in the body tissues, is one of the basic causes of diseases, especially the arthritic and rheumatic diseases.” (source)

of interesting note- exercise creates acidity in the body, baking soda has a pH of 12 (body should be around 7.5 so ingesting baking soda (only 1-2 teaspoon/day) is an extreme but effective way to help alkalize the body)

another note- i am nowhere near a doctor or alternative healthcare guru, i’m trying to alkalize my body right now to help it heal, but all this stuff mostly makes sense. all my thoughts are my personal opinions and i am only qualified as an educator, mostly in French, but i also do have a pretty high health standard and a decent bod. i just like to share more of the interesting stuff out there.

random ranting and reviewing

more and more young adults are being prescribed cholesterol drugs. is it really ironic to me that there are all these prescription drugs for something that is obviously a simple diet and lifestyle issue?!

the side effects from prescription drugs can get quickly out of control. last night i saw vitamins designed specifically to help those on lipitor and other cholesterol drugs. so weird. do people not realize they should just change their diet and include more vegetables, good grains, and lots of water?! i can’t believe some people don’t drink any water!!!!

i am far from perfect, but i drink at least 100 oz. of water most days. and i think that really helps keep me healthy. read up on stuff people, i can’t do it for you. i can barely do it for me. but please, keep the children away from the rx’s.

free writing

i recently wrote like 31 pages when i couldn’t sleep one night. most of them were nonsensical rhymes, but some of them were downright awesome. frightening.

i don’t know what’s been making me more tired, having so few jobs and sleeping so much, the jetlag, or the weather shift. most likely i should stop being lazy and go back to having at least seven jobs.

i have applied places and have a few leads, but my time constraints are quite constraining. and i can’t drink coffee due to a personal issue i’m having right now. really sucks, because coffee tastes soo good, and it helps me be more productive.

i have a lot of ventures i’m excited in, but few of them have a large payoff. so i must go, make my money for the day, and return and blog about my exciting californian vacation- that’s something you’ll want to read about.

but this. this is life.

poverty

due to my recent trip to California, the fact that i randomly quit my job with no concrete jobs (some of the planned-on ones didn’t work out), and my impulsive tendency to buy stuff, i’m soon going to sink into poverty. and just when i was supposed to be earning a ton of money to prepare for student teaching in the spring. oops!

hence my newfound idea to just share the things i’d like to buy, but will teach myself to refrain from buying, like the Kam-Kam the Day Tripper cat shirt:

Kam Kam the Day Tripper shirt

I love cats and scooters continue to grow on me. So, Christmas is near, gifts do I hear? No. I need to ask for money for the holidays. And make it.

Here’s to not impulsively wasting money.

california, oceanside, the beach, my trip, good times

basically to sum up what i did the first few days of my trip to california, besides the wine-tasting tour, the gambling and steakhousing at a fine casino, and the other wild adventures…i have been swimming a lot, by myself, in the ocean.

but it’s fun. and i love it. that is why i might move to sunny southern California and take up surfing and underground hip-hopping.

scary staph stuff

a 17 year old just died of a staph infection recently and now it’s getting more press.

i know a person who had it.

staph: killing more people than aids?

i’m scared. this article says some scary things, not just about the infection itself, but more importantly what causes it:

“Researchers found that only about one-quarter involved hospitalized patients. However, more than half were in the health care system — people who had recently had surgery or were on kidney dialysis, for example. Open wounds and exposure to medical equipment are major ways the bug spreads.”

that sucks! gross! stay away from those dirty hospitals!!!

“The results underscore the need for better prevention measures. That includes curbing the overuse of antibiotics and improving hand-washing and other hygiene procedures among hospital workers

what the dirty gross. i just don’t know what to say other than i’m freaked out by the lack of quality healthcare system in the US. that said, it was a vague statement….

Drink More Water!!!

i love water, and health.

yeah! tons ‘o bloggin soon!

first day in cal if orn eye aye!

i knew even before i landed in cali, from how polite the people on my flight were, that californiatude was going to be different. my first day in california, we travelled to go on a wine tour and gambling adventure, and the even the toll booth lady was kind! she was like ‘take your time, i can find things to do in here’ and she even complimented b.f.f. on her dress!

here is where i put up pictures of our wine tour/gambling day adventure…maybe later more…

1585070918_5cfa00e181_m.jpg

we went to pechanga hotel casino and also went on a grapeline wine tour. got to taste way too many wines. a lot of them were sweet.

i played the tables for the first time at the casino. b.f.f. played craps at like 10am before we went on the tour and they i.d.ed us it was funny. i was proud of her for having gambled at all, let alone at the tables. she was a pro, and later showed me how to get into blackjack. a good thing to think is that it’s fun and proactively interactive because it’s not competetive except for self/dealer but the dealer even wants peepz to win big for tips’ sake.

i fell in love with an old man who told me he could have bought a few houses with all the money he’s gambled away. i asked where he was from and he just talked about going to las vegas next week. another old man on the other side of b.f.f. and i was muttering things under his breath that only b.f.f. could hear about how dirty my old man friend was and how he had already gotten kicked out of the casino.

who knows? i know,,,,,i should get better at writing quality blogs. let’s get back to this when i’m back in chilly philly illy.
